My name is Trey Titone, and I created Ad Tech Explained to make complex digital advertising topics, specifications, and news easier to understand.
I have always loved occupying the nexus between technology and business, and that's why I have spent over a decade helping companies, colleagues, and clients bridge the gap between the two as a product manager.
The exquisite siren song of ad tech called to me when I was young...
Actually, that's not true at all. I was enrolled in law school but landed a job at an ad tech startup weeks before my first tuition was due. I was looking for any excuse to get out of law school, and my curiosity was piqued.
That curiosity was promptly un-piqued after spending my first month in ad tech questioning my life decisions while WFBB (working from bean bag) in the dingy townhouse of one of our engineers.
Despite not even having a desk, I decided to stick it out, which turned out to be a fantastic life decision.
The company proved very successful, and I learned ad tech in a trial by fire. I ran the gauntlet of business, product, ad operations, engineering, and project management to earn invaluable experience that sent me down the path I am on today.
Life took me from that bean bag to working directly with leading publishers, advertisers, and ad tech platforms to help develop their digital advertising strategies.
In this time, I had to earn the trust and buy-in from stakeholders who needed to learn ad tech in plain terms. This experience inspired me to create Ad Tech Explained.
Learning ad tech is a long and winding journey littered with acronyms and dominated by tribal knowledge. The learning curve is steep and eventually splinters in many directions — ad operations, engineering, product, and business, to name a few.
I wanted to leverage my experience to break down the complexity of ad tech and:
- Eliminate technical ambiguity for the business-minded.
- Clarify business context for the technically proficient.
I hope Ad Tech Explained will help everyone connect the dots between business, technology, and strategy in the digital advertising industry.
Thanks for stopping by, and I sincerely hope this creation of mine helps you on your learning journey.
